Sunkist swimmers were honored in Vicksburg on September 6 at the annual Mississippi Swimming Top 5 Awards Banquet and treated to an inspiring speech by Olympian Jason Lezak. Swimmers from across the state were recognized for their achievements over the past year. Sunkist once again surpass team high for state records broken in a year with 52 STATE RECORDS broken in 2013-2014 short course and long course seasons! Sunkist senior swimmers Anthony Santangelo, Marlan McElroy, Reed Mitchell, Jack Smithson, Josh Williamson, Sarah Berry, Chandler Carter, Jessica Blanchard and Mallory Dickey competed in the end of summer 2014 Southern Zone Senior Champs meet held in Fort Myers, Florida. Despite some challenging weather conditions, our swimmers swam fast all week, rocking finals with numerous personal bests and team records. Great trip to end a great season! RESULTS

Sunkist swimmers AK Mitchell, Khameron Glass and Ralph Moore traveled to San Antonio, TX, to compete for Team Mississippi at the 2014 Southern Zone Age Group Championships. They swam a combined 13 of 16 new personal best times with AK going 6 for 6 for 100% individual bests and a new team record on her 50 back relay lead-off! Way to represent, AK, Kham and Ralph!! Sunkist wins Swim Columbus Summer Splash for 2nd straight year! Swimmers took a break from long course swimming to enjoy some short course fun at the new pool on the campus of the MUW. Swimmers enjoyed a fun time at the pool party and cookout at Coach Chain's house after the meet. Sunkist traveled to Atlanta Father's Day weekend for SCAT's annual Swim With Dad Invitational held at Georgia Tech's Olympic pool. The meet featured chase starts and two to a lane for the distance races. Sunkist swimmers posted some great times despite the crowded conditions. Sunkist wins Stamm Family Invitational in Vicksburg for third straight year! Stormy weather didn't dampen spirits as Sunkist swimmers dominated tje competition from start to finish, winning multiple high points in the short course and long course competitions. Sunkist also claimed victory in the Splash For Cash competition, donating the $500 cash prize to Afton Strong Foundation in support of VSA swimmer Afton Wallace's fight with cancer.
